Experience
EAP Head of Discipline, Nazarbayev University – Astana, Kazakhstan
June 2023 - current
I am currently responsible for the day to day running of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) department of the Centre for Preparatory Studies (CPS). Typical tasks include ensuring that learning outcomes are achieved and the provision of academic input into programme planning, delivery, evaluation and assessment. I support and supervise a team of between 30 and 40 teaching fellows and also teach some components of the course.

Senior Teaching Fellow, Nazarbayev University – Astana, Kazakhstan
August 2018 - June 2023 (5 years)
While my first year as a Teaching Fellow largely revolved around teaching EAP, my subsequent internal promotion to Senior Teaching Fellow in August 2019 resulted in a shift towards academic management. Aside from my teaching load, I was also responsible for managing a team of approximately 10 Teaching Fellows and reporting to the Head of Discipline.

English Language Teacher, Qatar Aeronautical College - Doha, Qatar
September 2015 until July 2018 (3 years)
I was part of the Foundation Program in the Gulf’s leading aviation college. I taught both General and Technical English to adults aspiring to work as pilots or engineers for Qatar Airways and I was also directly involved in running the College’s professional development program. I helped students develop their academic writing in preparation for their undergraduate programs. This involved both face-to-face tutorials, together with help via online platforms.

English Language Teacher, British Council - Doha, Qatar
September 2014 until September 2015 (1 year)
I taught a wide range of ages and levels at the teaching center; General English, Exam Preparation and Academic English. I also supervised students who were preparing their Master’s dissertations at Qatar University.

Senior English Language Teacher, International House - Almaty, Kazakhstan
September 2012 until September 2014 (2 years)
I worked as a senior teacher for International House Kazakhstan after early internal promotion. This involved floating between two busy schools in Almaty in order to fulfil my senior teacher responsibilities. These included offering guidance to local/foreign teachers, conducting observations, placement level testing, as well as teaching my own classes; mainly Academic English. I also delivered teacher training courses (e.g. TKT) and ran seminars during the professional development days with a focus on blended learning.
